Arts First at Harvard: April 25–28
Each spring, Arts First transforms Harvard University’s campus into a massive public arts festival, in which thousands of Harvard students participate in music, film, dance, theater, and visual arts events. This year, on Thursday, April 25 through Sunday, April 28, there are hundreds of programs on offer: you can enjoy films on Harvard’s new Plaza, catch some African jazz at Dudley House, watch a live performance of circus artists The Ethereals, and much, much more.
Celebrate Arts First with the Harvard Art Museums on Saturday, April 27, by joining us for guided talks by undergraduate students on the exhibition In Harmony: The Norma Jean Calderwood Collection of Islamic Art, at 11am and 1pm. The talks last about an hour and will explore the exhibition’s brilliant display of Persian ceramics, illustrated manuscripts, drawings, and lacquerware. Attendance for these talks is limited and is included with admission, so get there early!
Admission to the Harvard Art Museums is always free for Harvard ID holders, plus one guest. Cambridge Public Library cardholders also enjoy complimentary year-round admission, and Massachusetts residents are admitted for free on Saturdays, 10am to noon, with a valid ID.
For more information and a complete festival guide, see Harvard University’s Office for the Arts website, so you know when and where to be for these exciting events.
