I Am a Sender. Multiples by Joseph Beuys.
This exhibition, the result of a collaboration between the Busch-Reisinger Museum and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Germany, examines Joseph Beuys’s multiples, the small-scale, editioned objects he produced between 1965 and 1986. In the artist’s own words, these modest yet significant works of art are “vehicles” for the dissemination of his artistic ideas. In combined, abbreviated, and altered form, they transmit the artist’s message like a dense network of “antennae” out into the world. Curated by Maja Wismer, the Renke B. and Pamela M. Thye Curatorial Fellow in the Busch-Reisinger Museum, and Luke Smythe, Curatorial Fellow of the International Patrons of the Pinakothek at the Pinakothek der Moderne, the exhibition offers insights into the extensive collection of Beuys’s work held by the respective museums. On view June 26, 2014 to January 11, 2015, at the Pinakothek der Moderne.
This exhibition is generously supported by the International Patrons of the Pinakothek.
